SPIRIT PLAY 
in memory of Su Eaton (passed May 2025)
A group gathered by Su Eaton (originally called the Spirit Play Collective), playing in various formations starting in the fall of 2015 in Northampton, MA.  We played mostly improvised pieces, often working with different structures during rehearsals.  Su often added poetry that she had collected from various authors, as well as some of her own.  We played “shows” of various sorts once or twice a month usually, from playing music for local dance jams to concerts at small venues we organized ourselves.  The “Collective” included (always) Su Eaton on vocals and percussion, Glenn Smith on strings, balafon, percussion, vocals, Matt Swift on bass, and (sometimes) Hilary Lake on violin and vocals, Amanda Turk on hand pan and percussion, Jacob Last on keys and flute, and several rotating percussionists - Mitch Hinard, Richard Adams, and Bobby Dolan.  By 2016 the “collective” morphed into just Spirit Play, consisting of Su, Glenn, Matt, and Hilary mostly.  By the Fall of 2016 into 2017, Spirit Play was mainly Su, Glenn and Matt.
