Live jam at the Hearth Tent, part of the Mateel Summer Arts & Music Festival in Benbow, CA. Hearth began hosting the Hearth Tent at the festival in 2000, and hosted it most years ongoing through the 2020's. It is a space for community creation, often open to all comers, including kids, musicians from the bands at the festival, and anyone who wanted to jump in. We brought a truckload of instruments - many drums and percussion instruments, plus balafon, bonang (part of gamelan set), hammered dulcimer, flutes, and strings. Others showed up with their instruments. Mostly all acoustic, though occasionally a small amp was used for some strings.
